Dedicated to a loving Mother & Son

Heading to go here

Maata TIRIA Asher

Anyone who knew Tiria was impressed by her fighting spirit. Alway an activist and staunch member of Māori Women’s Welfare League and The Labour Party. She could be fearless when standing up to authority on behalf of others. Mum was raised by our Nanny Daisy to be a true matriarch of the whanau. She loved her tungāne & teina,  Bill, Ngaere, Terry, Kaewa, Hera (Sal), Mano, Rangi and irāmutu katoa.

As a teacher, Mum made a lasting impression and had a soft spot for naughty kids or those with learning difficulties. Mum loved to serve as an Awhina and knew that she was guided by her Archangels Michael and Gabriel. Her door was always open to those in need for she lived by the creed. ‘Wealth is not measured by what you accumulate for yourself, but by what you give to others’.

Marshall Maharanui Atirau Asher

Marshall and mum established te Te Tatau Pāriha Poihākena – (Sydney) where he lived most of his adult life. He also returned home to live with mum in Tauranga Moana during her final years.

Marshall returned to Australia before he succumbed to illness after mum passed and his ashes were brought home to be interred here, for this is where his heart belongs. As faithful as mum’s angels.
